Rick D. McIntosh, P.E. – Principal/Senior Project Manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Rick McIntosh has over thirty-five years of experience in the structural and civil engineering fields. His structural engineering experience has included projects in essentially all areas of construction including institutional, educational, governmental, industrial, residential, and commercial projects. His responsibilities have included project management, design leader for structural analysis and design, preparation of technical specifications, coordination of design documents, review of shop drawings and submittals, and field evaluations. Mr. McIntosh has had significant structural engineering roles in projects that ranged in project scope from under $500 K to over 200 million dollars. His civil experience has included drainage studies, subdivision layout and design, and other projects in the field of general civil engineering.

Prior to joining Carpenter Wright Engineers in November 1998, Mr. McIntosh was employed as a Senior Engineer with PSI Process Systems, Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee where he served as lead structural engineer on industrial projects for the food industry. Mr. McIntosh has also worked for multi-discipline A/E firms, civil/structural engineering firms and a major pulp and paper mill earlier in his career in Kentucky, Wisconsin and Tennessee.

Mr. McIntosh is particularly interested in seismic analysis, seismic design and reinforced concrete structures. He co-authored the paper “Comparison of Recent U.S. Seismic Codes” based on his graduate studies at the University of Memphis, which was published in the August 1997 edition of the Journal of Structural Engineering published by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
