Guangdou Xu, PH.D., P.E., LEED AP

Guangdou Xu has over twenty years of diversified structural engineering experience. His design experience has included conventional, pre-engineered, and light gage steel structures; conventional, precast, and tilt-up concrete structures; load bearing masonry structures; and wood structures. He has served as lead engineer or project manager for numerous projects including industrial, manufacturing and distribution facilities, hotels, assisted living facilities, schools, churches, shopping centers, and office buildings. He takes particular interest in seismic analysis and design, incorporating constructability and sustainability into the design process, and creating innovative and practical structural solutions.

Dr. Xu’s technical responsibilities include structural design and analysis, preparation of technical specifications, coordination of design documents, review of contractor submittals, construction administration and field observations.

Dr. Xu’s main area of research during his graduate studies and post-doctoral fellowship involved dynamic analysis of concrete and earth structures and constitutive modeling of concrete and geomaterials under seismic loading. Dr. Xu has had articles published in the International Journal of Solids Structures and the Journal of Computers and Structures.
